Things Happened!!

Well, I didn't have my mid-term in history yesterday, due to an escaped prisoner on campus!!! It was all very exciting, everyone received texts or voice mail giving a description of the guy, and where he was last seen. The whole story is so stupid. The guy was being moved form Orlando to Tennessee to be tried for Larceny and the cop stopped at the Waffle House across the street from campus to get food. DUMB! Somehow the prisoner got out of the handcuffs, out of the car and onto campus. The good thing that came out of this is that all classes after 4:30pm were canceled, which meant that I didn't have to take my mid-term!!
So that was the exciting thing about yesterday. Oh! I was also slightly scarred by this movie we watched in Queering Pop-culture. It's called Sick and it's about an artist who had cystic fibrosis and was into S&M. It was extraordinarily graphic... I mean I really can' t put into words how high the ick factor was in this movie... in fact no more talking about it.
Today's song of the day is also a video, just 'cause I think the video is really cool!
Oh! I also am waiting with bated breath for the next book in J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series!! It's called Lover Avenged and it comes out at the end of April!!!!! (insert girlie squeal!!!!)

Crazy For You - Adele

Ugh...

Here is the snow I was speaking of. This was taken a few hours after it started falling.
I like snow but it is hard to take this late in winter. I wish it could have looked like this in December. It is even more hard to take after weeks of hanging out with friends and being able to eat all of the key lime pie ice cream I want. Now I have to stay inside and drink hot tea and cancel all of my plans!!!

I wish it looked like this....

and I could find a hot guy like this...
but that won't happen till at least April....*sigh*

Gloomy Sunday

Well, it's Sunday... and while I would normally be entertaining customers at the local drugstore, I had better plans for today... and then it started to snow:( Now I like snow, and sense I live in Georgia snow is a rare treat; But I had PLANS for today! I was going to go to the Booth Museum of Western Art for my history class then hit the bookstore to use my Borders bucks! but NOOOOO..... it had to start snowing and sticking and making the roads slippery when wet!!!!!

*sigh* So I thought up some themes for different days of the week.

Starting today pretty much every Sunday I will post a quote. Sometimes funny, other times thought provoking, but hopefully it will get us through the week!! I'm also going to start posting a song a day! I think this will be easy enough for me, sense I love music and enjoy finding new artists!

SO... today's Sunday quote:

Love is a snowmobile racing across the tundra and then suddenly it flips over, pinning you underneath.
Matt Groening, "Life in Hell"
US cartoonist & satirist (1954 - )
AND the song of the day:

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! (Digitally Remastered 98) - Dean Martin

Dead Untill Dark

Well, I finished Dead Untill Dark. I really liked it; I think that Bill is a fun, new vampire character and Sookie is a different heroine. She is much more like an ordinary person, she works at a restaurant, lives with her grandmother and just wants to be accepted for who she is. She takes her relationship with Bill, a vampire, completely in stride. She doesn't try to change him or lie to herself about what he is. I can't wait to read the second book in the series and start True Blood. I hope that it is as good as the book!

My Queer Class

I am taking a queer class at Kennesaw University. The whole title is Queer Pop Culture and one of our assignments is to create a notebook full of queer things in pop culture.
Let me clear up queerness as I'm studying it. It's not necessarily gayness, although it does privilege gayness. Queerness is that which is disruptive and defies the norm. So, for example, HiFructose magazine would be queer. The art it represents is very avaunt garde, it doesn't fall with the normal rules of art and sculpture.
So anything that defies normal rules of society could be considered queer. It's really fun, actually. So I was thinking of other things in society that could be considered queer but nothing came to me.

But anyway, I have started reading Dead Until Dark. I've just been so curious about the TV show True Blood and I'm one of those people that has to read the book before I see the show or movie. This might prove to be a mistake because I did the same thing with Twilight and that was an interesting obsession. Oh well, whatever happens it's proving to be an interesting book.
