SPRING!!!!

I am having one of those wonderful lazy spring days. I am determined to get a cheapo plastic table and chair for our deck so we can enjoy this amazing weather! I don't think there has been an ounce of humidity, it makes the trees and the sky so clear and crisp.

I am also super excited for the new Black Dagger Brotherhood novel that came out today! I rushed off as soon as I could this morning to buy it. Now I'm trying to decide when to start reading it. I want to take my time so that I don't miss anything but this week is going to be pretty hectic and I feel like it's too late to try and start it today :(

Speaking of books, I've been looking at my bookshelves lately and I think it's time for another purge. Namely, I think I need to get rid of the remainder of my collection of Dirty Romance Novels. Some of them I haven't updated in a while, and frankly I'm just now interested in them anymore. I started rereading Jane Austen which somehow led me to read Ernest Hemingway which somehow led me to read Ayn Rand. Now the only series I seem to keep up with is J.R. Ward's series.

Hello Bloggers, How is everyone's new year coming along? I am spending this new year as a college grad!!!! It is very exciting to not have to worry about assignments that are due, or classes that I have to go to. It is amazing to me how much gas I have saved by only driving on the days that I work. However, soon the honeymoon will be over, I have promised myself that I would take December off and begin looking for a more grown up job in January. The job search is coming along nicely. While I haven't been accepted in any library positions I have filled out volunteer paperwork for the archives at our Central Library. I'm really excited about being able to help out there.
I have also spent the break crocheting. I have made several little amigurumi animals and found a hat pattern that I just love, I have one in nearly every color. It's funny; I planned on spending so much time reading once I graduated, but I've done hardly any in two months. I did read the latest book in J.R. Wards' Fallen Angels series. It was good, but I'm more of a fan of her Blackdagger Brotherhood series. What I love about the Angels' series is that it is also set in Caldwell, NY and some characters and places overlap. In fact I'm wondering if this won't result in a novel that combines the two series in the fight for good and evil.
The latest book I'm reading in the new year is The Fellowship of the Ring. It all happened while I was having a LOTR movie marathon (all three extended editions on blu-ray) and working on this crochet bunny. I was possessed with the need to read the books again. They are so rich in detail and language. Tolkien was such a genius to have created multiple cultures and histories, not to mention a language for each culture. I don't think there has been an author who has come even close to filling his shoes.
I'm really pushing through the series, faster than I ever have before. I think most of that is due to the fact that I have resolved to lose 15 pounds by the first week in May. The hardest part for me isn't the eating healthfully, I really to like my veggies, it's been regulating my snacking/grazing. It's something I do when I'm bored, I snack. So I have been doing my best to keep busy, whether it's been crocheting toys or reading through the LOTR series. I am two weeks in and I have lost 5 pounds!! I am also exercising more and I have never been so sore, but my mood has improved so much!
Well, that's all I have to report for now, I'll come back later and post some pics of my fiber projects!!

I feel like there should be a meaningful title here....

Tomorrow I begin the last (I think) book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I've been putting it off and putting it off just because I don't want the series to end, J.R. Ward is an amazing writer! But sooner or later it must happen and I don't know when my next day off will be, so tomorrow I might be saying goodbye to the Brotherhood :(
In other news, I want to write a novel for Harlequin Romance! Don't role your eyes! It's mostly to see if I can do it.... and it's turning out to be much harder than one would think! I've written short stories before, but they were only 12 pages or so long. The minimum word count for a Harlequin novel is something like 50,000! That's about 200 pages and that's the manuscript!
But the novel might have to wait until after my cousin's wedding!!! I'm a bridesmaid and I went to get my dress today but there were a couple of snafus... 1) the sash of the dress, which is long, got caught on the garment rack and had a tear in it... so it will take at least 10 days to get that fixed and the wedding is in 3 weeks.
2) Between my undergarment and the tightness of the dress I can't breathe very well, I'm afraid I'll have a panic attack or faint during the ceremony. I've decided to just wear it for a couple of hours at a time until the wedding, just to stretch it out and also to get used to wearing such a tight dress. At least it's really purty!
And that's all the news for today, I'll write back soon with my comments on Lover Mine!!

In which it is late and all through the house not a creature was stirring... except for me!

Hello everyone!!!! Wow, so much for the idea that I would blog all summer long:( My only saving grace is that I have been reading voraciously. I've read so many books I don't know where to begin!

First, let me say that I have read Lover Avenged. It is the story of Rhevenge, vampire drug lord/pimp/nightclub owner extraordinaire in Caldwell. He is also part sympath, a breed that is cold calculating and confined to a camp upstate to keep the general population safe. He meets Ehlena, a nurse at the local vampire hospital, and they start a thing. While their relationship is still blossoming, Rhevenge's secret comes out and he must make Ehlena hate him in order to save her.

Now, that is absolutely the bare bones of the story. Because, unlike her other books where there are at most three voices; this book has at least seven! And there was so much going on; drama with the royal couple, teenagers being bratty and long lost friends drowning in grief. The whole effect left me wondering whose story was supposed to be told. Yet having said all of that, I have read it twice and loved the addition it made to The Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

I'm afraid I have given up on the Sookie Stackhouse mysteries. They don't hold the appeal that they once did. Sookie and Bob are not growing as characters and more characters are being thrown in to the fray. Basically, burned me out.

Next is the latest Jaquelyn Frank book!! It centers around the head priest of the Night Walkers, Magnes, and his new Handmaiden. She had been a slave in her aunt and uncles' house when Magnes called her to Sanctuary. Together they have to battle evil within the palace as well as their own personal demons. It was a decent book but I am really looking forward to her story of Malaya, the princess and her bodygaurd Guinn. That one promises to be fabulous!

Those are the highlights of my summer reading, I have also started up my beading and crochet again, so that will mean lots of crafty fun! Talk to you guys later!!

I don't even know what happened!

I don't know what happened! I think my subconscious decided I needed a break from the blogging world.

Anyway, I'm very excited because as the summer approaches so do the releases of some new books in my favorite series.

From Dead to Worse by Charlaine Harris March 31 (yes, I know it's today)

Dead and Gone
Charlaine Harris May 5

Ashes of Midnight Lara Adrian May 26

Lover Avenged J.R. Ward April 28!!!!! (this one I am UBER excited about)

Skin Trade Laurell K. Hamilton June 2

Rapture Jaquelyn Frank June 30

So you can see, once the end of April hits, I'll have a book come out every two weeks that I want to read!! It's almost embarrassing, the way most of them are romances. Oh well, don't judge!!!

* sigh *

I hate the day before payday. It means, I can't go no were, can't shop the inter webs for fear of temptation. Just sit at home. I mean, I have books here I could read but... I don't know... I'm kinda over the ones I have here. I'm really looking forward to the books that are coming out this summer. Lover Avenged by J.R. Ward, Skin Trade by Laurell K. Hamilton, and Rapture by Jacquelyn Frank. I guess this restlessness I have is my subconscious telling me this is what I'm really waiting for.

Books

My addiction is books. No... really... it's kinda bad. I stay up late reading, read in class... if I could read at the dinner table I would.
Lately my genre of choice is Paranormal romance. I've read almost all of the Dark Hunter series, the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward and I've read three of Christine Feehan's Carpathian novels.
Now I know what your thinking... that all of those series books are the same. But not so. Especially the Black Dagger series. Ward does a great job of making each book unique, as does Sherrilyn Kenyon. However, I have to say that I'm slightly disappointed in Feehan's Carpathian novels. While her writing is delightful, I find the situation of each of the books to be the same, with no great difference between stories.
*sigh* Oh well, the search continues for another series to start on. Maybe I'll try changing genres now that I've read most of my favorite authors books...
