*sigh* I now have three whole days to myself! I's such an exciting idea, I plan on sitting outside getting some sun, reading some of the books in my to be read pile, and work on the essays that my wonderful professors assigned to me!
I finished Into the Fire by Suzanne Brockmann. It turned out to be a very interesting book. It's told with different characters, which sounds kinda dumb but hear me out. Oh and I might spoil something so be warned.
The book is primarily the story of Hannah Whitfield and Vinh Murphy. They have been friends for many years, each having a secret passion for the other. Before either can act on it Vinh falls for Hannah's best friend Angelina. They get married and start to live happily ever after but tragedy strikes. Angelina is killed by a member of a Neo-Nazi group and Vinh badly wounded. Meanwhile, Hannah (a cop) is in a horrible car accident that leaves her with a bad ankle and profounly deaf. Vinh and Hannah go on separate drinking and drugging binges, every now and then Vinh will find himself on Hannah's doorstep. Finally one of these visits they have sex. Of course it's not the happy, hold me afterward sex and Vinh, who is feeling like he betrayed Angelina and mad at the whole world, tries to find a gun and kill himself.
Flash forward six months. Vinh is back and sober and ready to get his life together, Hannah is doing the same. Then they find out that the man who was the head of the Neo-Nazi organization that had Anelina killed has been murdered. Vinh might have killed him, but he had spent most of the six months high or drunk. The rest of the book is the two of them trying to find out what happened.
There are other storied mixed in with Hannah and Vinh's, but all of the people whose stories are told were touched in some way by Angelina's murder.
All in all I really liked this book, I really want to start the series from the beginning, just to see if it makes more sense.
Today's song of the day:
Hurt Again - Mary J. Blige
