Dead Untill Dark

Well, I finished Dead Untill Dark. I really liked it; I think that Bill is a fun, new vampire character and Sookie is a different heroine. She is much more like an ordinary person, she works at a restaurant, lives with her grandmother and just wants to be accepted for who she is. She takes her relationship with Bill, a vampire, completely in stride. She doesn't try to change him or lie to herself about what he is. I can't wait to read the second book in the series and start True Blood. I hope that it is as good as the book!

My Queer Class

I am taking a queer class at Kennesaw University. The whole title is Queer Pop Culture and one of our assignments is to create a notebook full of queer things in pop culture.
Let me clear up queerness as I'm studying it. It's not necessarily gayness, although it does privilege gayness. Queerness is that which is disruptive and defies the norm. So, for example, HiFructose magazine would be queer. The art it represents is very avaunt garde, it doesn't fall with the normal rules of art and sculpture.
So anything that defies normal rules of society could be considered queer. It's really fun, actually. So I was thinking of other things in society that could be considered queer but nothing came to me.

But anyway, I have started reading Dead Until Dark. I've just been so curious about the TV show True Blood and I'm one of those people that has to read the book before I see the show or movie. This might prove to be a mistake because I did the same thing with Twilight and that was an interesting obsession. Oh well, whatever happens it's proving to be an interesting book.

This makes me happy:)

Books

My addiction is books. No... really... it's kinda bad. I stay up late reading, read in class... if I could read at the dinner table I would.
Lately my genre of choice is Paranormal romance. I've read almost all of the Dark Hunter series, the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward and I've read three of Christine Feehan's Carpathian novels.
Now I know what your thinking... that all of those series books are the same. But not so. Especially the Black Dagger series. Ward does a great job of making each book unique, as does Sherrilyn Kenyon. However, I have to say that I'm slightly disappointed in Feehan's Carpathian novels. While her writing is delightful, I find the situation of each of the books to be the same, with no great difference between stories.
*sigh* Oh well, the search continues for another series to start on. Maybe I'll try changing genres now that I've read most of my favorite authors books...

So... Anarchy

OK... I hate politics. There is not a single side I agree with. Democrats, Republicans I hate them all. Oh and I am sick to death of hearing about Obama. OK he's the president, I respect that, but... NEWSFLASH PEOPLE... he's only human.
Now that I have that out of the way, let's talk about Anarchy.
I searched the fountain of all knowlege, Wikipedia, and found several definitions.
1)Absence of government; a state of lawlessness due to the absence or inefficiency of the supreme power; political
2)A social state in which there is no governing person or group of persons, but each individual has absolute liberty, without the implication of disorder.
There are also many more forms of anarchy than you are led to believe. For example, there is a form of anarchism called free-market anrchism that defines itself as "the private allocation of force, without central control". In other words, as an individual, you are incouraged to have your own business and protect yourself by using private institutions as opposed to government enforced ones.
This is my favorite political phliosophy. Everyone has the opportunity to accomplish their goals without government burocracy in the way.

Now This Lady Could Live in Technicolor!

The week after being sick

I hate how being sick makes you so tired! Here I am back at school and all I really want to do is go back to bed and sleep. And just so everyone knows Niquil is the worst tasting crap in the world.
Anyway, I wanted to share a website I found. It's for an art magazine called HiFructose.
www.hifructose.com It's very modern art and most of it is fantasy based. I'm using it as one of the topics in a notebook for my queer pop culture class.

Video Games

I've never been a video game person, I guess it's poor thumb/finger/eye coordination. Anyway, as part of Living in Technicolor is trying new things I decided to give it a shot.
I went to my BFF Victor, who is a connoisseur of video games and my coach, stated my off on Final Fantasy 10.

It is so cool! It took a while to get started but once it did it was like an interactive movie!! Pictures will be forthcoming as proof of my video gameage.

More of my exploits coming soon!!
